In her New York Times Opinion column, Gail Collins observes that the well-heeled NRA is struggling to find new gun rights to lobby for. In many states, we are at least free to carry concealed handguns most places. In Virginia, those pesky limits on how many handguns a person can by in one week have finally been lifted. In Florida we can shoot anybody who gets in our faces. But are there still places where a potential threat could arise, where gun control laws would prevent us from shooting our way out to safety? Churches? School buses? College campuses? Can we really safe in these places if we don’t have the ability to kill another person in an instant?

Before you answer, remember this: now that it is easier to carry concealed weapons, more people are doing it. If we don’t have the right to carry concealed weapons, how we will protect ourselves from all of our fellow citizens who are carrying concealed weapons?

But is carrying a concealed weapon really enough?

If someone is pointing a gun at you, it may be too late to whip out your concealed weapon.

That’s why Sheep Vs. Robots in joining the NRA in advocating for “cocked and loaded” legislation, which would permit citizens to walk the streets with their guns out, loaded, and trained on their fellow citizens. Just remember: your fellow citizens are probably armed too, so don’t take any chances.
